Primary 5 English Cloze Passage Practice

The objective of creating the English Cloze Passage Practice series is to provide students with practices in grammar and comprehension cloze passages in a variety of genres. This creates opportunities for an extensive learning approach to enhance students’ proficiency in the English language. 

There are 2 booklets in this Cloze Passage package. In each booklet, there are 10 Grammar and Comprehension passages that are introduced in a thematic manner to facilitate the learning of new vocabulary. The themes in this series include the themes covered in schools (based on the latest Primary English syllabus by the Ministry of Education, Singapore). The additional themes present students with a wide range of words that they should be familiar with at their respective levels. 

This Cloze Passage series is also an effective preparation for tests and examinations. Tips and Techniques such asusing contextual clues, vocabulary and grammar are provided to give students the tools to complete cloze passages. Guided explanation in the answer key allows teachers and parents to assist students in better understanding how to complete the cloze passages. Students can also use the explanations for independent learning. 

It is hoped that as students work on the exercises in this book, they will gain confidence in the essential English skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. With a rich and extensive vocabulary, together with an understanding of cloze passage techniques and strategies, students will be better equipped to effectively express themselves both within and beyond the classroom.
